The transport sector is currently responsible for 25% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in Europe and those emissions have only increased in recent years. Our goal: a climate-neutral continent by 2050. Reducing emissions by 90 % in 2050 will require ambitious interventions in the transport sector. Electric mobility is at the heart of this strategy to enter zero-emission zones.
The use of zero-emission vehicles and renewable and low-carbon fuels should be encouraged. This sustainability is a challenge and a growing issue. To implement zero-emission vehicles, a carrier has access to vehicles that run on electricity and hydrogen. Manufacturers are investing heavily in electric vehicles. Market penetration is increasing, with increasingly efficient electric trucks and electric vans coming onto the market.
The European Green Deal stresses the need to step up the rollout of charging infrastructure, starting with the ambitious target to provide at least one million publicly accessible charging points by 2025. At the moment, the current charging network is unable to offer a practical infrastructure for the transport sector. The transport sector needs a reliable (inter)national charging network. In order to realise this, Entent is going to provide a Europe-wide charging infrastructure along all major transport corridors. In the process, Entent’s aim is to create the fastest charging network for electric trucks and electric vans in Europe.
